The paper packaging physical performance testing instrument is mainly used to evaluate the physical properties of paper, cardboard, corrugated cardboard and their packaging containers (such as cardboard boxes, cartons) in terms of mechanics, thickness, stiffness, durability, tearing, etc. The main instrument categories and representative equipment are as follows:

1、 Basic physical performance testing instrument
Thickness gauge: measures the thickness of paper, cardboard, and corrugated cardboard, commonly using mechanical contact or non-contact (such as laser, X-ray) principles
Quantitative sampler: Cut standard area samples to determine the grammage (g/m ²) of paper.
Moisture analyzer: Quickly detect the moisture content of paper, as moisture significantly affects strength performance
2、 Mechanical strength testing instrument
Tensile strength testing machine (tensile machine): tests the tensile strength, elongation, and tensile energy absorption of paper/cardboard.
Bursting strength tester (bursting strength tester): measures the maximum uniform pressurization (bursting strength) that a material can withstand per unit area.
Edge Compression Strength Tester (ECT): specifically designed to measure the edge compressive strength of corrugated cardboard, it is a key indicator for predicting the compressive strength of cardboard boxes.
Ring compression strength tester (RCT): used for compressive testing of raw paper, cardboard, and other materials along the thickness direction.
Flat compression strength tester (FCT): evaluates the compressive performance of corrugated cores in the plane direction.
Piercing strength tester: Simulate sharp object impact to test the penetration resistance of cardboard.
Tear resistance tester (such as Elmendorf tear tester): measures the force required for pre cut paper samples to resist tear propagation.
Adhesive strength tester (peel tester): measures the adhesion strength between corrugated cardboard surface paper and core paper.
3、 Durability and structural performance testing instruments
Carton compression testing machine: Simulate stacking state, test the ultimate compressive strength and deformation characteristics of empty or packed boxes.
Folding endurance tester: Evaluate the fatigue life of paper sheets after reciprocating folding (MIT double folding, Schober single folding).
Stiffness tester: measures the rigidity of cardboard against bending, commonly used for evaluating paper cups and packaging boxes.
Softness tester: simulates tactile sensation and quantifies the softness characteristics of materials such as toilet paper
